Dear Parents,
Please stay diligent when it comes to flu matters, and remind your child to:
Wash their hands frequently.
Cover their nose and mouth with a tissue when they cough or sneeze, or do it into their sleeve.
Get proper rest and nourishment.
Stay home when sick.
Do not return to school unless fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication.
Please consider flu vaccinations for your child as they become available.
Here are a couple of videos for kids to watch:

Practice @ Home
Dear Parents,
St. Jude's Academy puts great emphasis on phonics in Kindergarten years.
This week we have started our reading groups for JKb.
I kindly ask your help to encourage and remind your child at home with the following:
Ii says ĭ for igloo.
Oo says ŏ for ostrich.
Aa says ă for apple.
Uu says ŭ for umbrella.
Ee says ĕ for elephant.
Thank you,
Mrs. Padovan

Harvest Celebration
Dear Parents,
We will be having a dress up party on Friday, October 30.
Please when planning or purchasing your child's costume keep in mind that guns, swords or any scary costume will NOT be allowed.
If you wish, your child may bring in a treat to share with the class.
Please make sure that any item brought in is nut-free.
Thank you,
Mrs. Padovan

Fall Tree
FALL TREE
Stand up tall and spread your limbs.
You're a fall tree in the wind.
Move your branches all around.
Pretty leaves falling down.
Some are brown and some are red.
Time for you to go to bed.

New Unity of Inquiry
This week we started a new unity of inquiry, "How We Organize Ourselves".
As you know St. Jude's Academy is on a process of implementing IB Primary Years Program (for more info visit: http://www.ibo.org/pyp/ ).
I'm very excited about this new unity and what students can get from it.
Title: "OFF TO WORK WE GO!"
Our central idea: "A community is made up of people who work together and depend on each other."
Lines of Inquiry:
*Jobs people have in a community
*Why and how people can help each other in a community
*How jobs interconnect in a community
It would be nice if you could share with your child what you do for a living, and tell him/her what role your job plays in the community.
Thank you,
Mrs. Padovan

Check Marks...
I'm sure you have heard about our check mark chart. If not, watch the video below.
JK students agreed to:
Line up quietly
Talk one student at a time
Be kind and polite
Work hard
Clean up after themselves
If they do all above they will get 5 check marks throughout the day. And there is always a surprise by the end of the day, either house points, stickers or a little treat.
